Why NIKON ? There's lots of other brands out there. You know - Nikon is NOT best on all digicams! Do you have some equipments or something, since you are focused on Nikon ?

In fact, the answer is "no" and I'm a newbie..

But as i've read through these forums, I saw that brands including Canon, Nikon, Sony are leading in this sector and Nikon's pic. quality is ahead from the others..

But you can recommend me some other brands as well..

Nikon 4300. You will love the pictures and the price won't kill you. 4M pixel at $450. The camera is solid. I shoot with D100 but have seen just as good stuff come from my 4300. Regards. Mark

No matter what you end up deciding on, before you buy go to a store and see the camera.

Make sure it fits your hands. That the buttons are in reasonable places. That the size is what you expect (fit in a shirt pocket? Pant's pocket? Jacket?) You'll be amazed at how much you think you know about a camera until you actually see it. Seeing pictures in reviews is nothing like actually getting your hands on it.

Default try the 4500

The coolpix 4500 is great - and it is being discontinued - so you will find the prices are already dropping. It's 4mp and you can switch it from auto to full manual which should be taken advantage of in order to learn how to shoot.

Try to find out what your needs are - are you looking to be artistic and take your time when you shoot? Do you need it for basic shots?
