Default 5700 front threads for filter adapter?

The fornt of the 5700 lens, while not being threaded, DOES have a lip that looks to me as if it is designed to accept clip on accessories, e.g. a filter adapter!

!!

I bought a 40.5->49mm filter adapter, files the screw thread down ... fits perfectly and now I can put filters or even a sunshade on my 5700!

putting a filter on the 5700 will prevent you from zooming

the ure-8 is only for the optional lenses not for filters it blocks the lens from zooming

Sorry, but you are wrong. The inner lens element, the one that the lns cap grabs onto, does the zomming and with a little filing one can use a 40.5 mm scree mount instead of the snap cap.

I have relayed your 40.5->49mm filter adapter info to our group who's planning this weird project above .
they R awed . seems even a major camera distributor here don't have it (yesss we communicate FAST)
U think your way is more logical/efficient than the above ? TIA !

Check this site, they have a ready made adaptor

Sounds a bit unstable to me, anybody tried it?

Mango ..

Absolutely! Any filter is a lens. Placing it at variable distance form the front element is bad optics. My 40,5 adaption is simple and should not deteriorate the lens.
