Default Nikon 5700 or Minolta D7?

I looking at the Nikon 5700 or Minolta D7. The important features to me are: macro (mostly flower pictures), zoom (at least 200mm for wildlife), action shots, ability to blur out backgrounds. I will use the camera mostly as a basic take on vacation and take family pictures (child pictures mostly).
I currently have a Minolta X370 35mm - mostly manual with a 28-200 zoom.
Any suggestions which camera would better fit my needs? Also, should I be concerned about Konica buying Minolta?

Thanks for any help.

Theses cameras are both long in the tooth... wait a few more weeks for their replacements!

... Unless you find a really good deal which you can't pass

I would definetly choose Dimage 7;
On the other hand new models are coming up and every price in the market will fall down a little ..

I would recommend to wait for a while ... (At least until Canon Rebel Digital and Sony DSC-F828 enters to the market)

I'm right there with you Shelly! I need a camera for the same basic reasons, and I'm torn between the same two! I'll keep checking this post for more opinions.

After extensive research and reading of reviews, etc., I decided to get the Nikon 5700. I tend to use more tele and the 5700 has it. I also compared the pic quality and the 5700 seems better, and I was *really* impressed with my Minolta d7 quality (camera stolen), so the 5700 should only be better! I'll let you know how I like it when it gets here! I ordered from ritz camera and got a price break plus extras.
