Please explain more on your focusing problem indoors. I didn't have any problems indoors with mine... even though I mostly used it outdoors and why I wanted that zoom range.

Just a short note to say I just got a P100 to go with my D5000 & D300.
Since the P500 is due out anytime, I got the P100 for $328 with a free 8x8 Shutterfly book at Best Buy this afternoon.

Sooooo.... I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!!!

I'll post more tomorrow, like I did when I first got the P90.

OK, couple things... This doesn't take as good a pics as my P90 did from memory... and I could be spoiled comparing it to my Nikon D300 w/Nikkor 70-300mm VR... but that is what I've been using.

P100 seems no where as sharp, colors off, or as much as contrast as the P90 had. Several reviews on the P100 said the same thing if you read them. Lots of reviews in this link:
P100 reviews

I compared it against my D300 with two types of shots.
First test was 15 yards away in backyard tree of a Chickadee.
Second test was over 100 yards away of a Heron.
(of course the resolution was lowered to show here but the same for all pics)
It was a dark overcast day in all shots.

Taken with P100 at 50% cropping. (different chickadee flew in same area)

Taken with D300 at 75% cropping, but a tad unfair as I used the flash. But still much, much sharper.

This was no cropping with P100 (zoomed all the way out)

This was no cropping with D300 (zoomed all the way out with 70-300mm)

This is 100% cropping with P100

This is 100% cropping with D300

I had other shots... but the picture quality and contrast was acceptable for me so I took it back to Best Buy and will wait for the new P500 that is coming out any day now. Most of the early reviews for the P500 says they fixed the picture quality on this one.... I will see.

Hi Jack-

And welcome back! I looked seriously at the P-100 and decided to wait for the upcoming P500 with dual image processors and hopefully a better lens/focusing arrangement.

Jack-

I have not paid that much attention to the L120, due to the performance of the L110. So, based on your comment, I will check it out with some more research. 'Back later.

I may have mistook the L120 for the P500. I would want the longer zoom range and the tilting LCD. The L120 looks interesting though.

Jack-

The P500 has 36X optical zoom (22 to 810mm) and dual image processors, so that may indeed be the camera you "mislabeled" as the L120, Jack.

It is slated to be available in mid March and will begin selling for $399. Imaging Resource has a good preview of the P500 at:
