Default Wondering what Ya'll think about this idea

I got to thinking about how I was going to get my SD card out of the camera during those long Ebay photo sessions, without having to unbolt it from the tripod. Often I'll take a few dozen shots and pull the card, bring it over to the computer and post my lisitngs. Didn't want to have to break down my tripod and framing position. So I whipped up a quick prototype for an extension block.

Great idea IF that is screwed in, not just sitting in there snugly.

That was a complaint of mine when I was shooting moon shots recently. I did not want to take my camera off at night and had too.

You come up with great idea's like you did in the filter post.

Yes Jack It is screwed in tightly with 1/4-20 standard tripod mount threads on both ends. It feels secure. I'll test it a bit more to make sure it stays snug. I wonder if camera bodies need a wide base support as on most tripods. Or weather the metal thread mount in the camera body is strong enough to not wear loose over time.

If you will sell me one, I'd like one.
In fact post it in my review, 35 pages / 345 posts / 20,903 views

and I bet some of those P90 owners will want one.

I'm heading down to the shop to tweak this design a little more. I think I'll eliminate the taper and neck the upper section down to 1/2" and allow a little more surface contact between the stud and the camera mount. Then I'll knurl a bit wider so it's easier to grip and tighten to the camera body. I'll post pics when I'm done. Wondering what people might pay for an accessory of this type? Any opinions?

I would think maybe 4.99$ or something along those lines. I would probably be interested although i don't do a ton of tripod shots were i have to continuously remove the SD card.

Thanks Sarah

I finished another version. I do a lot of Ebay photography, so I have to pull the card and move it to the computer to check resolution and screen appeal. That's why I thought it might be a good idea. It also looks like most camera batteries are on the underside.

I must say that version 2 looks a lot more professional than the prototype.

That would work! I would patent and market that idea as most point and shoots have the media & battery at the bottom, so there would be a good market for this. I'm thinking of a price between $5-$10 for something like this.
I would want one. I'll buy one if you make a extra one. I'd like to have the first one sold and market it for you in my threads.

Yep, I'm a heavy TRIPOD user, even with VR.
