Default nikon 5700 and vivitar 285hv's

i just saw the Wein Safe Sync device and want to know if this is a way to use my workhorse 285's with the nikon 5700 hot shoe sync socket . i have seen so many comments about never using these flashes with the 5700.. will this work?? i would hate to give up my 285's - had the same 5 for 12 years and they are still banging out light and not missing a beat.
any thoughts???

It should fit the bill well, the Safe Sync was made for just that very purpose - to isolate high trigger voltages from newer and sensitive electronically operated cameras. Those old Vivitars are well known for frying delicate circuits in newer cameras.
