Default availability, alts for 5597 filter adapter set (67 mm)?

Based on a vendor's claim that he had the 5597 in stock (and would ship overnight), I bought a set of Nikon filters and the adapter. He was 'mistaken' so I have the filters and no one, even Nikon, seems to have the adapter. Suggestions (other than go with a different filter size)? When might these things be available? And why, oh why, are they not?

Thanks.

I should have checked the archives on this one first - I see there are no answers there though the question has been asked. I posted to Nikon and we'll see about that.

Thanks. I went by there and will give them a call as I can't really tell if they have a dupe of the Nikon 5597 (67 mm from the stock lens barrel). Since I have that lens and those filters, that's pretty much what I need. I wonder why NextPhoto doesn't make that one, given that Nikon doesn't appear to.

2filters.com doesn't have an adapter for the stock Nikon 67mm filters.

This is strange, annoying, frustrating, stupid. ????

Default Nikon 67mm filter adapter...

Go to www.provantage.com and order one from them (Nikon part number 5597). You should get it in about two weeks. All the other parts pieces and bits you can order are a waste of time and more expensive. I got mine from ProVanatage today. Made very well by Nikon and you can use it for the other Nikon addon lenses. I just happened to have a filter adapter that fits this adapter and I don't have to worry about Nikons warning about only using Nikon filters. It puts the filter about 3mm futher away from the end of the lens at full telephoto. You do have to watch for corner vingetting though. After seeing how many users are having lens errors, this is one extra that's a must!
Now all I have to do is send it in and have the flash fixed!!!

Scott!
