Default Nikon Coolpix P100 tech question

Hi there
Would be v grateful if anyone could help with this problem....
I have a P100 which Im still getting used to and last week I filmed the school nativity. For info it was low light and I was using the zoom. When I filmed it using the electronic viewfinder (which I prefer to do) it produced dreadful results, really blurred and distorted, pretty much useless. I quickly changed to using the monitor - and the results were fine. I have viewed these recordings on TV and EVF version rubbish, monitor-recorded version fine. I cannot understand this at all, because the same lens is used, sorry if i'm being stupid there but how comes two totally videos result depending on what viewing option you film it with?!
Many thanks in advance for all your suggestions!
