Default Nikon coolpix 5700 for $285-300 after rebate Newb help!

Okay here it is on the cheapest dealer's site I could find:
http://www.cameratopia.com/products....085&shelf=1097
$434
not bad eh?
REBATE
http://www.nikonusa.com/fileuploads/...er_rebates.pdf
Read the TERMS here it has to be from an authorized Nikon dealer.
Offer valid for 5700's purchased from Feb1,2004-March31,2004.
I THINK cameratopia is an authorized dealer but will call tommorrow to make sure. At any rate I have see it for $499 at other sites. So that would be $285 for the 5700! Seems DIRT CHEAP for a 10x zoom. So I may be wrong and perhaps the rebate only applies for brick and mortar businesses?

I am in the market for a camera in the $350 range. Now I am NOT a photograhpy freak and have never owned a digital camera before but I AM a tech freak so learning for ME at least won't be a problem. Would this be the best thing I can buy for that price? My wife on the other hand.. need it for my wife who is going on a cruise with her mother. She is not exactly a tech freak and I am not sure exactly how much she wants to "work" in order to get a descent photo so realatively user friendly is important also. Still its tuff to pass up a deal like this!

Read the reviews from www.resellersrating.com

http://www.resellerrating.com/seller2359.html

I think you will see that cameratopia is a scam artist.

Try www.shopping.com for price comparison and vendor ratings.
