Default 105mm f/2.8D micro lens

I just purchased a used macro lens and will be receiving it this week and wanted to know if anyone has any tips on using it. I have several lens but never used a macro before. Any info would be of help. Thanks.

As you get into higher magnifications (closer to the subject) you will find the depth of field becomes very thin. This requires stopping down the lens to f/11 or f/16 which results in slow shutter speeds. You will need to use a tripod or flash to get decent results.

You may also require a right angle viewfinder to be able to compose the shot.
