Default Nikon 5700 bright outdoor shots

A little advice needed: When I take a long shot in the direction of strong outdoor lighting or strong noon day lighting the images tend to be overexposed and very harsh looking yet a macro at the same moment has beautiful color. The effect occurs even with (Auto) controlling the exposure. I generally use asa 100 and even tried spot and stopping down to no avail. Any suggestions

I have seen this too. I suspect there are two problems here ... flare and a problem with metering. You may wnat to try using the spot meter mode but I am more conerned with fare because I have noted a LOT of loss of sharpeness and washed out areas under these conditions.
