Default f8???? coolpix 5700

Is f8 REALLY the minimum possible aperture??? I am using full manual, but this seems to be the smallest aperture I can get. f8 is really not very good when I want to increase DOF or use a slower shutter speed.

while the maximum aperature on the Nikon 5700 at its longest focal zoom is F/4.2, the minimum aperature is vary but I believe you can set it at least to F16, at this f-stop, most everything will be in focus. Try to select the aperature priority mode and set it at f/22 or f/16and let the camera select its shutter speed, if the shutter speed is longer than 1/125, then you should use a tripod.

I did use aperture priority, but the max it would allow was f8!

Are you sure the cameera allows f22?
