Default Nikons w/Mac USB Cards?

Somewhere in one of the 950/990/995 reviews, there was a reference to the fact that these cameras only supported built-in USB buses in Macs. I assumed that this meant I couldn't simply add a PCI card with USB ports to my present Power Mac 7600 and use any of these cameras. Does anyone know if this is true? I'd have a lot more options in my camera selection if I could use my present computer (otherwise, I'm pretty much locked in to a Sony Mavica!). Thanks.

well if that is the case which i am not sure is true here are 2 options.
you have a mac.
1-does it have a firewire connection onboard. if yes you can easily purchase a firewire cf card reader/writer at www.enpc.com. it is the lexar model for approx $37US delivered. it works good. i have zero problems with it on my PC. includes mac drivers. it will work.
2-install a usb 2 card and get a usb reader. again a no brainer to install. it will work.

to direct connect to your computer is sort of a waste of its batteries and rather a slow transfer. it's better to keep your camera out of it. your option of course.

both of these options will work and you'll have happy little pictures to play with on the screen and printer

Thanks - that's a great option. I should have thought of that with my brain!
