I have just bought a Coolpix 5200 which is my first digital camera. I think there is a problem with the audio quality both on the video and the voice memo mode. There is a continous static like crackle which varies in intensity when you speak for example. It is not wind noise or background noise or external interference as I have tried it out in a quiet room. Is this normal for a digital camera? It seems unacceptabe to me but as I said it is my first digital camera. Many thanks.

I have played back the video mode on a TV and on a computer. The sound was fine.' I haven't played it back on the camera.

Thanks for the reply. I also played it back on a computer as the playbackquality on the camera is obviously not as good. I have done some more tests and it sounds like a static interference from the camera itself. Thanks again, Ian.

Anyone knows if I can record just audio on Nikon 5200 or 4200?

If it can, does it save in .WAV file or else?

And I can just plug it via USB to my PC and retrieves the .WAV files as a Removable Disk, right?

TIA!
