I used my new CP8700 and took some night pictures of San Francisco at night. Problem is most of the pictures came out a lot lighter than what it looked liked at that point. It looked like it was still light on the photo but it was actually a lot darker. I had a coolpix 775 which was very basic and I loved it. So I made the leap to the 8megapixel and want to play with some more serious photo taking.

Easy as 1,2,3...

Here ...what you do:

1. Set camera on A mode, use the timer function...

2. Set aperture as F/6.3, or F/7.1 or F/8, put camera on tripod

3. Change AF to manual focus, focus, then hit the shutter button to take picture then check result...

Shoot at all e aperture settings, check to see @ which one results in the sharpest picture, use that aperture as your preference.
