Default CP 5700 & Sports Pictures

Is the CP 5700 a good camera to purchase for sports (action) pictures, i.e., can I point and shoot and get the picture as I see it happening--can I get several shots in succession? Most of my action pictures will be baseball related.

When puchased, this will be my first digital camera.

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

I photographed my dog using continious high and found it hard to take a single picture. It was squeezing off two and three exposures with the slightest press of the shutter release.

yea same thing. continous high is 3 frames/sec and continous low is 1.5 frames per sec. it's a guess which one to use. any other things you have adjusted? shutter speed?
