Rumor is that the upcoming 8800 has some sort of burst mode, but it only lasts for a few frames. I have the Panasonic FZ20 now which has an unlimited burst (about 2fps). Does anyone know the specs on the new Nikon's burst modes?

Yeah, selectable continuous shooting modes:
2.3 fps max 5 frames, or 1.2 fps, max 11 frames.
There's also an ultra high speed continuous which is 30FPS, max 100 frames at 640x480 (no, this is not the video mode - there's a separate video mode).
