Default 5700 LCD does not reflect settings

My 5700 does not preview a shot with the correct exposure. When I set exposure compensation +/- and half decline the exposure control the lcd does not brighten to the parallel setting that the image is actually taken at. When using flash on auto settings the lcd is too dark to proparely composure the image. The flash fires but frequently tends to be out of focus. Any suggestions.

The Minolta D7 series is the only camera that does this WYSIWYG (What You See is What You Get) @ this time! It even reflects the +/- color saturation adjustment!

BTW one can also overide the D7's EVF in dark areas for studio shoot... and you can also manually overide the AF with the manual focusing ring. Is it too late to swap?
