Default Nikon Slide Copying Adaptor

Does anyone have experience with the ES-28 Slide Copying Adaptor? I have the new CoolPix 4300 and need to digitize hundreds of slides so I can get them onto CD's. Would a scanner be better and/or faster and if so do I need a dedicated photo/slide scanner or would one of the flatbed scanners with a slide copying adapter work as well? Any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated. I got a CoolPix because Nikon is the only manufacturer that has a slide copying adapter speficially for their cameras.

I have one for my 990, but definetly not recommending it! The pictures from the slides are acceptable, but not anywhere close to a real live picture taken with same camera! (beside the dust specs...)

The slides look better when projected in a darkened room than when magnified on a CRT with all it's imperfections IMO!

If the slides you need to scan are important then a dedicated film scanner is a must. I have tried a flatbed scanner for some 6x6 slides and the results were only fair (used an Epson 2450).
Today there are many film scanners available at reasonable prices that will do a better job for you and you will not regret it.
Many of these include the Applied Science Fiction Digital Ice suite of software to correct faded slides or negs, reduce grain and eliminate dust and scratches. Good luck I am about halfway through scanning 50,000 slides and negs using a Nikon 4000.
