Default Firmware Updates

Wondering if anyone could tell me what the proper way to update FIRMWARE to the camera would be. I understand you need to download the patch, however how do you get it to the camera. I use the E5700 and am aware at present, there is no updated version, but I noticed Nikon released one for the 5000. I'm hoping sometime soon, they release one for the 5700.
Thanks in advance.... :?

It's easy. I've done it a couple of times myself. You can either use the CF card or the cable. If you use the CF, the firmware has to be put on the card, push a button and the firmware is automatically updated.

BUT no matter what, you really should read the manual which always arrives with the firmware. Then you will be sure to get it done right.

Default Thanks Klaus.........

Thanks for the explanation, sounds easy. I will heed your advice however and READ THE DIRECTIONS if and when any updates are released for my 5700 which I truly enjoy, besides all the shortgivings everyone seems to be always complaining about............
Thanks again.

:?:

Huh? Nikon released a firmware upgrade for the 5000? I don't see any reference to it on their website.

Anyone know about this?

It's released. I think about a month, or so ago. Should be able to find it @ Nikon USA.

Firmware can be either updated via cable or directly from the card.
If from the card, the firmware must reside in a directory (on the card) named Firmware.

The 1.7 Firmware for the CP5000 came out about a month ago,
I applied it with no probelms, the big innovation is the introduction
of the new RAW format known as NEF. This requires the new NikonView v5.1.3 which can be downloaded.
