Default novice to digital cameras (5700)

I am very interested in purchasing the Nikon 5700. It has everyhting I'm looking for in a digital. I've used a Canon A-1 for years and want to get into digital photos.
The only thing that is holding me back from buying one is that there are no threads on the lens barrel, so you cannot screw a filter onto the lens for protection. Does anyone have an opinion? Thank you.

You can buy a O-ring with a thread to attach onto the lens barrel. Nextphoto sells them. It's very easy to do and works fine. However you will need a focusassist lamp, unless you'll use a external flash. The CP5700 does NOT perform well in dark surrounding! Otherwise it's a fine digicam.

I've got an CP5700 myself - it's a fine camera, but you should also consider the Minolta Dimage 7Hi, which also is a fine digicam.
