santa brought her a new 8800.

but we have a problem.

charged the batt up. turned camera on, itworks. take pics ,turn off

turn back on 15min later,,,,dead ,zilch, nada , nothing

charge batt...charger light on after 1hr.

try camera again...back in bizzness,,,she's happy

turn off,,,,,,, try again later.............dead...she not happy

get camera up again

take pictures allday Christmas (65 pics)

Wife Acceptance Factory Rising

this morning camera dead. (or so i thought)

Wife Anger Factor rising

remove battery then reinstall,

camera works, but locked at Intro screen ,,no button responce at all

remove batt and install again,,,camera works

notice that the batt level was at 3/34 same as lastnight after shooting Christmas

So to me it seems to be related to removeing and installing the battery

is it a battery problem?

or am i rebooting the carmera when i remove and reinstall the battery.?

or faulty connection at battery term connection?

today is Sunday, all closed just kinda looking for ideas

I'm thinking about trying another battery next week if i can locate one

before i call the camera store i bought if from

thanks

used the camera more today,

if you remove the battery to charge and then re-install

the camera will not come on unless you

switch camera on,,,, pop battery out then back in

i will come on everytime.

i'll call Nikon tomorrow

Definitely sounds like the camera needs to be exchanged/replaced. That's not normal at all.

I don't see any behaviour like that at all. I bought myself a spare battery off ebay to keep a charged spare in my bag. Despite this I still haven't had the opportunity to use it as the battery life on the 8800 is fantastic.

bjj: I am having the same problems with a new 8800. Have you resolved the issue (battery vs. Camera) ?

Hello bjj,

Welcome to the forum

From the symptoms you describe it kinda sounds like it is more batt related than camera related.

Hope it is as simple as just the batt.

In interest of full disclosure!...I do not own an 8800.

However, I have held one in a camera store.:-)

Hi. I have encountered the same problems with a second battery. In addition to symptoms--as described by bjj--I now get a flashing ERR message. Called Nikon. Their take: not merely battery, send it back:sad:.

Issue resolved by returning the camera--for another. Quite happy, thus far with a working model!
