Default nikon 5000 or 5700?

trying to decide on nikon 5000 vs 5700 coolpix -
l like the 28 mm vs 35mm wide angle and better macro of 5000 and i could get the adapter to extend the zoom, so with those factors aside, what are the pros and cons of the 5700 vs 5000?

I was also in a quandry as to which camera to buy. I settled on the 5700 because of the 8X zoom. The cost of the 5000 plus a teleconverter was very close to the cost of the 5700. I am very pleased with it.

Default nikon 5000 or 5700?

thanks laserjock, i'm more into macro so the smaller screen and non-optical viewfinder seem like limiting factors to me for the 5700, any commments from others would be greatly appreciated. great site!

I've got the 5700 - had the 5000 and 990.

For macro the 5000 was excellent - the 5700 also fine, but not as good as the 5000. As an overall digicam the 5700 is far the best for me. I like the zoom, but once in a while I misses the wideangle. But I got the zoom - works better for me.

If you take lots of pic. of moving object (people, animals, cars etc.) and will use the wideangle for this - choose the 5000. If your object are still, (landscapes, building etc.) choose the 5700 and get the largest zoom available today. You wont regret!

Some will claim that the two cams are alike - except for the zoom and wideangle. That almost true. My experience says that the 5000 took sharper pics that the 5700. But both are magnificent as go for the picturequality.

Good luck.
