I had to include this one. He was shaking and fluffing himself up and reminded me of my budgies when I was a kid.

This is the Harrison River. There used to be a sawmill here at the turn of the century. This river was part of the route inland to the Caribou gold rush around 1858

Looking North. When you fly out of Vancouver Airport, it's surprising to look down and see how small the "settled " area is. Big mountains everywhere..it's a pretty nice place to live...but don't tell anyone !

I should comment on an 8800 mistake I made yesterday. I tried shooting the eagle in the tree by setrting the camera to the infinity setting (the little mountain). I found the camera focused on surrounding tree limbs, rather than the bird, previously. Well...with the lens at 10X zoom, the depth of field did not cover the eagle and I wasted about 20 good shots ! I tried using spot metering today, but it didn't do any better than good old full Auto ! I really find my pictures good enough (for me) to not bother mucking about with settings. This should be good news to anyone daunted by the camera's apparent complexity.

And Angie....it rains just as much here. The sunny days are striking !

And Kenneth...I'll look at the wildlife section. I've kind of adopted this corner as my home ! Maybe I should venture forth !

And PeterP...is that kayak around Superior ? I'm too dumb to guess your coordinates..help me out..where are you ?

The co-ords are for south side of Lake Simcoe. That avatar picture is from Bon-echo.

Tremendous series, Steve.

I especially like that eagle eying you...I'll bet he is thinking...is that cyclops (camera to eye) dead (ie, food!) or do I have to wait?

The last mountain pic is so similar to the classic photos of Everest. Except for the evergreens in the lower valleys of mtns you could be in Katmandu!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaay

Steve, head on over to the wildlife pics. There are 2 posts of eagles. Yours would fit right in. One iscalled ??something about some eagle shots, and the other, someone titled it, pleased with my panasonic converter, one great hunk of glass....these might not be right on the money but close enough. And bonus, the member also included a great detalied account of eagles and their lifestyles (er..if you can call it that...)
