Default Linear or Circular Polarizer filter for CP4500?

Hi, I'm planning to buy a PL filter for my CP4500. Is a linear PL filter suit for CP4500? Whats the different between the two (linear and circular)? Appreciate if you can advice and recommend  thanks!!

For your CP4500 you should buy a cirkular polfilter.

In older days the camera didn't have any lightmeteringsystem and then the linear polfilter was good enough. Cheated nothing. But today when almodt every camera has an lightmetering system a linear polfilter will cheat the lightmetering system.
If you use a cirkular polfilter the rays will bend in the direction you turn the cirkular polfilter. The linear will simply make the rays bend in one direction and that will interrups the messuring of light.

It's a little bit difficult to explain with my short vocabular of english...

But no doubt get the cirkular!

 wow, Klaus, you really take good pictures!! Can you recommend me what type/brand of PL filter to use (I mean circular type)?

As you know, my CP4500 is 28mm thread...there are many PL filters sold in US market and eBay for CP4500 (many are Digital Optics branded)... probably those are all linear PL filter? (bcoz the price is not that expensive ~$20 for 2 types of filter inclusive of UV, PL ).

Plz advice. Thanks.

You can check bhphotovideo.com or camerafilters.com for pricing. Different brand, different quality (multicoating or non-multicoating) come with different price.

I got this for my CP990 couple of years ago:

It also comes with a nice Nikon folding case to carry them in, with the UV being kept on the camera all the time...
