are there adapters that accept more universal add-on lenses and flashes? if so, what are they and who sells them?

i've been considering this purchase and don't wanna get it if i'll be trapped into only supplementing the camera with unaffordable Nikon accessories.

me too...two next photo adaptors allow me to filters i already had, also don't have to pay high price for oddball nikon sized filters that won.t work on other cameras. I also own a D70 very happy with both, the each serve a different purpose.

Certainly wouldn't recommend the WM-E80 Wide Angle Converter... it's rubbish.

Absurd linear distortion (described in the manual as 'normal')... unable to fit filters or a lens hood (less than ideal on a 28mm)... limits the lens to 28-85mm (no digital zoom)... disables the built-in Speedlight (buy our SB800)... erratic focusing on infinity (FFS)

...and very reasonably priced at 80.00 ($150.00).

Sure there are workarounds for most of these 'anomalies' but the linear distortion is totally unacceptable.

What were they thinking?
