Default Is UltraCompact Flash compatible with the 5700?

Hi all,

Just wondering as I am thinking of upgrading from my
beloved C2100uz...

The Ultraflash for those who do not know supposedly
transfers to memory considerably faster than
"regular" Compact Flash.

Does anybody definitively know if it will work in 5700?

What is the max Compact Flash the 5700 will handle? It is
currently available up to 512 mb.

And...has anyone had experience with Ultraflash?

Thanks!

Update...

Per specs on web site, 5700 can accept 512 flash. It does not say if it will accept UltraFlash.

Yes, the Nikon 5700 will accept UltraFlash... I have a SanDisk Ultra 256MB in my 5700.

Default Is the SanDisk Ultra worth it on a 5700?

- koruvs -

Do you find it worth the extra money? Is it faster than non "Ultra" (i.e. in theory slower) CF cards in the 5700? After reading Rob's CF performance Database:
http://www.robgalbraith.com/media/co...ash/index.html
This started me wondering which CF card would really be the best for the 5700. Going purely by the rated speed doesn't seem to be enough, as the camer's write pattern can work better with some CF cards than with others.

Hi Eric,

To be honest, the 5700 is the first camera I have used with CF capabilty so I don't know the difference between 'regular' and 'ultra' speeds in real world usage.

The SanDisk Ultra 256MB card I bought with the 5700 was on sale. I use 2560x1700 (3:2) setting 90% of the time and it only takes about 1 to 2 seconds to write the shot...though I have never really timed it, I have no complaints about the performance.

Hi Koryuvs

Thanks for info re the Ultraflash.

I test drove a 5700 today at a camera shop.

It took minutes to load a raw image and a couple
of minutes to load a fine (best JPG) with a fresh
Lithium (nonrenewable) battery.

It is great news that UltraFlash may speed
things considerably.

Thanks again.
