I am curious if the ones being sold now have the latest firmware.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Bought mine in December and immediately updated to 1.4 firmware was a piece of cake.

Best,

Got my 8800 yesterday with 1.3 firmware. Updated to 1.4 in just a few minutes.

Mine was delivered June 27. It came with firmware v.1.3. I updated to present v.1.7. As someone else has reported, "piece o' cake." Bravo, NIKON, for making firmware updates so easily/readily accomplished without having to send the camera in for service.

I am wondering how you were able to successfully update the firmware. I have had problems. I have been able to transfer it to the CF card, but it doesn't seem to see that there is an update on the card. I have followed the directions on the Nikon download page but am still having problems. I do not consider my self an electronics novice (though I am no "pro") and am still having trouble.

Any tips?

You should not copy the 8800update folder but just the

"frimware" folder in it to the already coolpix formatted CF card

Otherwise the firmware menu choice will not show an update path.
