Default CF card can not be read?

Well I seemed to have messed up a compactflash card in my nikon 4500. A new sandisk 128. I took a few pictures and was not near my computer but my son told me I could use explorer to view them on his computer and I could as the camera was recognized as another drive. Problem is I deleted the pics while viewing through explorer and now the camera says "WARNING" cf card can not be read. I did something bad didn't I?

Thanks for the reply. As it turns out my son was successful formatting the card with the computer as the camera would not let me. All is well now.
