I need some help. I was wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between a 6 megapixel DSLR and a 6 megapixel Point and Shoot digital camera. Which one is better?? Please if anyone has any advice for me that would be great!!! I am farely new to the digital world so that is why I am opening this to people who obviously know what they are talking about. Thanks. I look forward to the responses that I recieve. Thanks!!!!

The image capturing chip on a DSLR is typically bigger in size than in a point and shoot camera...so the image capturing sites on the DSLR chip are less densely packed...which, without getting into technical details, translates to cleaner (less noisy) images especially for higher ISO settings.

With a point and shoot camera, you can use either the eye-piece viewfinder or the LCD display to compose a shot just before capturing the image. To shoot with DSLR, you have to look through the little eye-piece viewfinder in order to compose the shot, since the LCD on the DSLR is not usually designed as a viewfinder, nor can it usually function as a viewfinder.

A DSLR typically allows you to put various kinds of lenses on the front end. So this provides the camera with lots of flexibility....for example, you can put a big bright lens on the front, which allows good performance for low light shots.
