Default CoolPix 995 3rd party lenses

A newbie question, but can anyone tell me if there's any 3rd party lenses that will fit my 995?

The CP995 has a 28mm front thread -- any lens with a standard 28mm rear mount or that accepts a 28mm adapter will fit.

A fairly standard lens rear mount is 37mm (e.g., just about all telescope accessories offer a 37mm version) -- and there are a good number of brands of 37mm-28mm adapters.

I have a CrystalVue 8X (that I love) for my 995. The CrystalVue has a standard 37mm mount, but the package I bought came with the 28mm adapter.

Here's the link to Ezra's really great page that looks at the options out there:

Hope that helps

Default 99X lenses

try Bugeyedigital.com
I have found they have an informative site as well as decent prices.
Shop your lenses, some are outrageous.
The first thing you need to purchase is the step up ring and the UV filter.
Do that before anything else. The UV filter will protect your precious first lens. Actually, I am told that it is not really a first lens, but a glass piece before the lens, See Lin Evans reply. [email protected]
As someone mentioned, the $10.00 UV lens is a lot cheaper to replace.
You can attach the other stuff like the wide angle as needed later. Also don't forget to get the larger lens cap. Keep the old smaller lens cap in a small plastic bag in your camera bag just in case.

The OpticZoom 5X lens works really well with the 995 giving you 20X zoom, only vignetting towards the wide angle part of the zoom. If you are really ambitious you can then add a B300 to give you 34X zoom. Details can be found at www.eagleeyeuk.com.
