Default For Steve, webmaster - Coolpix Firmware for cp5700

This topic has been addressed on another thread
so I apologize but I wanted to isolate to just
the Coolpix 5700.

When powering on w/Menu button down, I observed
a firmware of version 1.0 thru the viewfinder.

Others on this forum w/cp5700 have reported a firmware
version of 1.1.

Nikon web site shows no firmware update.

Nikon tech (on 1/7/2003) stated that there is no firmware
update. Nikon tech also stated that forum member here
who has version 1.1 is a liar! I dont think so!!! lol

Perhaps, Steve can offer some response on this most
intriguing issue .

Thanks!

Whether there is a version 1.1 or not I'd much rather have a functioning 1.0 than a buggy 1.1.

This seems a very hot topic and yes, I'd like to get my 5700 updated with the updates/enhancements I hear the ver 1.1 will make. However, let Nikon do the R&D and release a finished product, not a rush job just because of popular demand

Default New Nikon 5700

I received my Nikon 5700 yesterday drop-shipped from Nikon via OfficeMax and the firmware version is 1.0
However, my 4500 shows a software version of 1.1
Maybe the fellow in the poll got confused, Nikon and Officemax say no firmware upgrade yet.
Of course, I was hoping.
BTW, the 5700 locks focus quicker than my 4500 (not much), in fact I was impressed initially even in low light (maybe they have changed something). Time will tell as I play with my birthday gift from my wife.

I bought the Coolpix 5700 on March 6 and mine has V1.1.

The focusing in low light and indoor situations isn't bad, but I only have the Canon G2 to compare it to. The Canon does as well or better.

I'm actually not impressed or even satisfied with the manual focus feature. This may be because the G2 is really nice on manual focus. The center of the picture is enlarged so you can see finer detail. I'm not satisfied with the "Focus Confirmation" feature on the 5700. (That's actually why I started reading posts - to find out if anyone else is discouraged with the fuctionality of manual focus.)
