Has anyone used a 52mm filter on Nikon 8800 (with adapter ring 53.2-52mm)? Does it produce some vigneting?

I tried using a 52mm polarizer before adapters were available by putting a wee bit of teflon plumbers tape on the filter threads. It held in place OK, but there was quite a bit of vignetting and I stopped using it.I did buy the Nikon hood that includes a 62mm adapter which works well with 62mm filters . It frustrated me to have a bunch of unusable 52mm fiters, but I'm over it now. Sort of ! I would expect any 52mm filter will be too small and moving it away from the lens on an adapter will probably make it worse...I think !
