Default Reputable Vendors

Can anybody tell me anything about B&H Photo or Cameratopia.com, both out of New York?

Has anyone dealt with either of these vendors and if so how was your experience?

I plan on buying the Minolta D'image 7hi or the Nikon Coolpix 5700.

Are there other reputable vendors that you can reccommend that have competitive pricing online that I wont get into any "gray market" or other hassles with?

Any advice?

Thanks,
Destro

B&H Photo is a very good place. I haven't purchased anything there, but I would. I know many people who have purchased a variety of things (spotting scopes, binoculars, cameras, lenses) and they have been very good.

Their prices aren't the best, beat everyone prices. But that isn't their point. They have amazing customer service and won't disappear any time soon. Their store is a *entire street block* in NY City (I'm told. I've never been to it.)

They do sell gray market parts, but they properly label them as "import". They won't try to scam you with them.

B&H Photo is very reputable. It's not just an entire block but it's always packed with people as well as conveyors belts running full steam!

They do sell gray market cameras as well, but @ a lower cost than their US models and fully warranty them in writing in their catalogs unlike other on-line retailers...

Default Reputable dealers

Destro,

I bought my 5700 from 17th street Photo. Great people to work with. I dealt with a guy name Dove and the price was 999.00. Just call and ask for him. I also called him about a D100 and they don't sell them and he directed me to another company.

Keep shooting,

Murray

I bought my Nikon 5700 from DBUYS.com. I had no problems. Camera was a USA model and a couple hundred $ lower than retail. CS was not pushy. Great place.

If there is a Ritz in your area, they will pricematch any large reputable vendor.

I got my 5700 @ Ritz for 999.99, pricematched from Bernies camera store in downtown Pittsburgh.

For what it is worth, Canadian purchasers would do well to look at "The Camera Store" in Calgary. They have a web site. They offer good prices, friendly service and they have a very nice store.

I have used Dbuys several times for my 5700 and a printer.
I think they are good.

B & H has a good reputation as well. Perhaps better than dbuys.

B&H has a rock solid reputation.

You can also try http://www.robertsimaging.com and http://www.keh.com.

KEH's prices are, in general, just a hair cheaper than B&H.
