Default Nikon 5700, Maintenance/Repair experience?

I am a semi-retired news photographer with lots of Nikon F experience. They were marvelous and extremely dependable instruments. I intend to buy a 5700 shortly. Somewhere I read or heard the extended warranty costs $300 +/-. That's as much as I used to pay for a complete camera. I'm curious about your maintenance history and costs of factory repair work.

I have owned my Nikon 5700 for six months and never had anything wrong. I myself wouldnt pay the additional $300 as in 2/3 years, this camera like all others in service now will be out of date and we will be looking at the new 14 MP model that is about what we paid for our current cameras or less. Technology moves on!

If that bothers you, then perhaps you should look at a good film camera.
