Default havin problems wid my nikon coolpix 4300

i was currently usin a coolpix 4300 , this is my 1st digital camera . it fell and i thin the shutter has been broken or soo , coz i get overlappin images and if i give it for repairin here (india) they take around bout a month for repairin the camera and i cant wait for that much time , sooooo i was thinkin of takin another camera - which is very fast in takin pics , is durable(strong) , compact and has good features for a new user . it should also have scene modes or best shot selector . so i wanted suggestions on which camera to go for............................................... .................

What's your budget? Also, will nikon or the store you bought your cam at exchange it for another 4300? I'd look into the second option before dishing out a small fortune for a new cam.

my budget is around bout 400/500$ . i had got my camera from dubai ,and if i go to buy one from india (where i stay ) it will cost me a fortune ,coz they r takin lke 800-900$(us dollars) for the same camera and hence i have to pay alot, which screws my budget . plus nikon is also not that compact and i cant carry it everywhere and its delicate tooo , hence i was thinkin of takin the casios QV-R4 - which is compact ,strong as it is a metal body and it takes pic very fast - is this camera worth buyin or sshould i go for another camera ..................suggestions ?????????????

If you are looking for compact, what about canon? The s400 or the s45 are both very compact and very good cameras. Either can be picked up for about $500.
