Default What file size should I use on my Nikon 5700?

Harlow people,
I be off on vacation for 4 days and I only have 2 256 MB cards which I believe is way way way too little since I am a shutter bug. I am used to taking photos in the Fine setting and the pics are about 1.4 mb big depending on the details of the pic (right?)
My question would be if i wanted to blow the pics up poster size roughly around A1 size or 24' x 36', can i go for the normal setting or i am stuck at this setting...?

another question...using nikon view 5, the system tells me that my pics are at 72 dpi which i know is not exactly good for printing. I suss there is something wrong with the proggie or my camera setting...not sure which ....

So being confused, I seek help from anyone who can explain it to me clearly...

I would use the fine setting JPG that you are using now, 1.4-1.7 MB per picture. I have one 256MB card and can get about 130 pictures. If you will blow up a picture to a 20 x 30 size, you should use the highest resolution. I use photoshop so I couldn't help you much with Nikon view.
