Default Aquarium photos best method of taking

I have a 4500 and a cool light. But I have no success at taking any photos at all.
Please help.
One advice I was given. "With great difficulty" that was a big help.

Try to use an external flash and shoot the flash from the top of the tank. This is an old trick, though.
