I've owned the CP5700 and the CP5000. The both do an execellent job and so does the CP4500. Fore pure macroword I would go for the CP5000 which has an really sharp lens and will go CLOSE - 2cm. So does the CP4500, but I dont know how sharp the lens are.

I am not a fan of 2cm or 3cm working distance because my work always need larger working distance for lighting. In my experience, in terms of the macro capability, the 5000 is the worst of all Nikon higher end Coolpix cameras. The 4500 has an advantage because it has the most support from third party. The 5700, due to its longer focal length, can easily get a larger working distance. For convenience, I prefer the 4500. To have a longer working distance, I prefer the 5700 plus Berinie's Coolpix adapter and Nikon's #6T close-up lens. If it is necessary, the 5700 can easily use the reverse lens technique. However, none of these consumer digicams can replace a good macro 1:1 SLR lens.
