I thought I fully charged my battery (EN-EL7) for my Nikon 8800 as usual. When I went to take photos, the camera wouldn't turn on. Now when I try to charge it, the charger light blinks very rapidly, not the slow blink it used to do when charging. Has anyone else seen this or know what it means? I think the camera won't turn on because the battery is dead and the charger won't charge it... but I'm not sure. Has anyone seen a similar issue?

Thanks!

The manualstates a "flicker" of the battery charger's light indicates a battery error and suggests both units be taken to a Nikon dealer. I wonder if dirty terminals on either the battrey or charger could be the problem ? My earliest cell phone had a battery that required regular terminal cleaning with a cotton swab and alcohol. I guess it might be worth taking the charger into a store and trying a new battery ?

I did try a second battery, and that didn't work. It's not "flickering" exactly - I saw that in the manual - it's blinking rapidly, but definitely not my definition of "flicker." I ordered a new charger to see what happens with that. I have a suspicion that it's the battery charger and not the camera - or is that wishful thinking? I don't have the AC adapter or I'd give that a shot.
