Default Just got my 4500 and a focusing question!

Hi,

My 4500 arrived today, and already, I've taken over 100 pictures Ahh... the joys of the digital world!

The pictures are of amazing quality and I love the camera! What a machine!

Now my one question- the focus seems to be a little noisy... am I supposed to hear it when the autofocus is working, or is something wrong? The camera seems to be fine at focusing, except for extremely close macro, which could also be because of low light.

Thanks,

Jeremy

The macro will work down to 0.8 inches, but only when the macro symbol is yellow. You need to zoom the lens in slightly to get that.

In terms of noise, have you left the continuous autofocus on ? If you have then the camera will try and re-focus all the time. If you've set it to single autofocus (one of the menu options) you will still get some noise as it runs through its autofocus cycle.

Thanks! That means the noise is normal
