Default Nikon 5700

Anyone know where I can buy the Nikon 5700 yet? I called one place who advertised it and was told they don't have it yet? Thanks!

I don't know much about the gray market so I guess I am best to steer away from it. Anyone know how much longer before they are in the stores?

I just walked to a Penn Camera store here in Springfield, Virginia and they had brand new one on the shelf that I took. I am just learning how to use it. I went from a Nikon CP990 to the CP5700.

Default Penn Camera

Thanks for the info! I just came back from Ritz and they said that they didn't have any idea when they would actually have the Nikon 5700 in the store. They are only doing pre-orders now. Was Penn Camera's prices comparable with Ritz?

I ordered a 5700 from MacConnection (PC Connection) last night on their web site and it arrived today by overnight air.

Before ordering, I checked out discount order places and decided not to go with a grey market camera. Many places show the 5700 currently available at list price.

It works fine with Mac OS X, without installing Nikon View 5. Apple's generic USB camera supports works just fine. You can use Image Capture to download images or you can do it manually from the mounted disk-like image and files.

I've only taken trivial test pictures around the house, but I'm already happy with it. The 8X zoom is dramatically better than the 3X on my 990. My wife is now claiming the 990 so that she can retire her 35mm camera.

I'm looking forward to more complete testing this week end.
