Help! I just bought the C-720 and it is a beauty.
I am unable to find how to set the light for flouresent.
tech support wasn't a lot of help. If you can help it will be appreciated a lot.

Press the MENU button and when the menu is onscreen press the "down" part of the 4-way controller, this takes you to the white balance "WB" options. From here pick the Fluorescent option and hit the OK button to accept and exit the menus.

You can also use the "right" option of the menu called "Mode Menu" and then go to the "Camera" section and use the "WB" option.

If you are in P/A/S/M mode, Display menu - choose WB - choose Presets - choose last option, an oblong box with dashes around it - This should represent a flourescent light bulb - return to main display for shooting pictures.

Its a beauty all right - so long as it sits on a tripod. Is there any way to to take out camera shake?
Any after market products? I just can't haul out a tripod every time a bird is sitting on a wire.
I chose this over the Nikon 995 because of the zoom and simpler menu.

I take back my camera shake comments. After a week of experimenting, I'm learning not to clutch the camera when focusing. Adjusting shutter speed helps too.
The zoom capability makes this camera a great buy and worth the extra care when focusing.

Is purple fringing truely the problem of 720?

I am preparing to buy it,
Does anyone can give me comment on the problem of purple fringing in 720?

also, is the problem of purple fringing in 720 very serious?

I'm no digital camera expert--the C-720 is my first. But it's an amazing little machine. The 8x optical zoom is what sold me, and it has fully lived up to expectations. I took it to a major league baseball game, sat toward the back of the lower deck, and got clear, large closeups of players on the field--handheld, with no tripod. You lose quality with the 3x digital zoom, but it does work as advertized. I'd never be satisfied with any 3x optical zoom again.
