Hi, I'm new here. I apologize if this has already been covered (if it has just point me in the direction of the thread!)

I go to a good deal of small-ish venue concerts in which I'm right on the stage. If it doesn't seem to dangerous, I like to bring my SP-500UZ to get some shots. Most recently, I went to a 30 Seconds to Mars concert and got some excellent photos.

However the majority of my shots came out blurry, grainy, or too light.

With this sort of show the musicians don't notice, let alone care, about my AV-assist light and flash. Almost all my photos used flash, and those that didn't turned out very blurry. The two problems are obviously low/changing light, and very fast moving subjects.

Suggestions, anyone? Seems that others were able to get clear shots without flash. Zoom is hardly a problem, as I'm so close anyway. My settings were 1/10, F 2.8. I don't even know how to change the ISO, and I'm afraid that if I did, my photos would turn out far too noisy.

I really know very little about photography. :-) My settings were based on a vague understanding and lots of trial and error.

Thanks for any advice!

I would use following parameters:
ISO 200 or 400 (too noisy)
no flash
shutter priority
RAW format
stalibilize myself (tripod?)
manual focus if autofocus is not possible
