Default Goodbye Canon A40 Hello C720UZ

Just got rid of my A40 (praise be!) and purchased a new Olympus 720UZ. The 8X optical zoom is great and so is the ability to record in TIFF mode. No shortage of manual controls either. Hate the fact it hasn't got sound on the movie mode and was wondering why the lcd keeps switching off just after a few seconds?? Any other users out there??

The lcd displays the last picture you took for about 5 secs so that you can take a quick glance of the photo.

There are many C-7x0 users out there (700/720/730 and in future 740/750). They mostly hang out in forums dedicated to the camera like http://www.homepet.com/cgi-bin/c700/UltraBoard.cgi and dedicated groups like http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Oly_C-700/

The large LCD switching off depends on how you have the sleep function set to. If it's set to 30 seconds, the large LCD will shut off in 30 secs, and the camera will shut off 30 secs after that. If you don't have the large LCD on, the camera will shut off in 30 secs. It's to save your batteries. BTW, hope you are using rechargeable nimhs and not alkalines.
