IR

What's the best all round filter for Infrared photography using the Oly 3020?

Thanks

Unfortunately you won't be able to take a good IR photo with your 30xx camera because it effectively blocks out IR.

But if you have a 2100 UZ you can take great IR photos by using the Hoya R72 filter. I got mine from http://www.2filter.com.

If you want to take IR photos, you would be better off with a 2100 UZ or one of the 20xx models.

It doesn't block IR or at least all of it. I've tested it with a remote control - sees it good and bright. Are you suggesting the 2100 lets more IR in than the 3020?

Steve,

You are correct that the IR signal from a remote control can be seen on a 30xx. But taking a picture through a filter such as the Hoya R72 is another story altogether. The 30xx blocks so much of the IR that unless you put the camera on a tripod and take a very long exposure, nothing much is going to come through.

But the 2100 and 20xx cameras let significantly more IR through. I can take IR pictures indoors with my 2100 at normal exposures and they come out great. But I've had no such luck with my 3030.

OK thanks for that.
