When I plug my Olympus, 32 megapixel, D- 535 zoom into my computer I get know camera wizard pop-up or any dialog box. I just get a ding that is telling me the camera is found by the computer. I really like using the Camera wizard to download my pictures. Anyone know what might be the problem. The camera scanner wizard finds my scanner ok but not this camera. This is a replaced HP with XP. The old one with XP worked fine with this camera. Did they not load the wizard program right?:?

try to plug the camera into another usb port, does the camera show in device mana ger while it is plug in?
if not it sounds like the camera cord could be bad. Windows XP should find the camera automaticly and refer it as a removable drive. Under mycomputer, If you have the camera plug in right click on mycomputer, then left click manage. then click disk management, do you see the camera their? if so click format disk. |

I know the cord works because if I install the camera Software I can download the pictures. But my Mom like to us the Microsoft version of the camera wizard. Seem to beeasierfor her. Everything work find on her other XP before the hard drive went bad. But in the new one she can't getthe camera wizard to find her camera. The computer finds it somehow.

if it worked when you installed the software, that might be your only option. You can see if the camera reqires drivers , to run they should be on that cd.

Now here a strange thing. I hooked up my Olympus 580 and the computer saw it in device manger. But the camera wizard did not pop up whenI did the connect. With my mom's 535 I did not see it in device manger.

O yes the camera was on. I know what your talking about. That is why I've ran out of ideas. I don't know why this XP is different than her other one. But I might try downloading the drivers for this 535 camera and see if makes a different.

this might sound odd but some fire-wall programs may prvent , comunication and block a port.
