Default Oly c5050 - Hoodman or Xtend-a-lens?????

Tough choice, but I need one or the other.
$20 and $30 respectively (so it seems); so price is NOT a determining factor. Degree of useful satisfaction IS.
Some pros and cons for each; who's used them?????

C'mon; I've already read the old postings.....

Let me put it this way...do you want to buy a hat, or shoes? They are two totally different things, at two different ends of the camera!

A Hoodman is a device that shields the LCD from sun so you can see it better on a bright day.

The Xtend-a-Lens is a lens filter tube adapter (like the Olympus CLA-1) so you can put on filters, additional lenses, etc.

Are you sure these are the products you want to compare?

Regarding the Hoodman type device, you should make sure it's *compatible* with the C-5050 before you worry about comparing them...since the 5050 has a tilting LCD, it might not work with it.

I think you mean't an Xtend-a-View from www.photosolve.com.

I've used it for several years - transferred it from a Kodak DC-260 to my Oly c4000Z.
It has a magnifier in it - that pumps up the image size to 2X (I think thats the X factor?).

It is easily put in place with velcro that hasn't hurt my LCD surface yet (several months regular usage).

I like the sun shade feature but ALSO the great ability to use my Oly like a quasi- SLR with my wide and tele-converters from my ancient Olympus IS-1. (WYSIWYG-almost). Great product.

Don't know much about the Hoodman though - colud be great also?
