Default Olympus D-550?

Does anyone have an opinion about the new D-550? I am in the market and it reads well. Does anyone have any experience with it?

I personally own a D-550. It is my first real digital camera so I can't really compare. Now that you know that I will give you my opinion.

Great images
User friendly
(and many more minor things)
No manual shutter/aperture/white balance settings (not a problem for point and shot useage. But that is for slightly more advance shots).
Only a 3x zoom (I find that a 3x zoom is outgrown too quickly, even for a amature like me. But of course, this isn't a problem limited only to the D-550, but all 3x zoom cameras).

So with that said. I would say that the D-550 is great for the money, but if you need it and can afford it, get something with manual settings and a bigger zoom.
I personnally am looking at the Olympus 750 UZ, but I am going to wait for the next in the UZ to come out...

Hope this is helpful

I have two friends that have 550's and they both like them a lot! I have seen pictures from both and they are excellent!
You might consider getting a refurb from Olympus. The 550's go for around $190 on thier ebay site and $229 at the Olympus Emporium. You can't tell them from new and they come with a 90 day warranty that can be extended to two years.
I have purchased both new and refurbs, and feel the refurbs are the way to go!
Good luck on whatever you do and you won't be disappointed with the camera.
