Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix the problem?

I'm using my e-300 with an FL-50 mounted on the shoe with the AF assist on. the fl-50 sends the red light pattern to help the camera focus and the pictures are coming out with a very thin red line across the middle. the line starts with little white dot on the left side, just a bit off the left edge, the rest is red and extends all the way to the right. This is in the case where the photo is being shot in a portrait mode. The landscape composition sets the white dot in the middle in the top of the image and extends it down.

HELP me please. Is something defective and need to be replaced? a setting? the camera? the flash?
(I tweaked the photo to highlight the defect)

Helpis much appreciated.

You might get a better response in the Oly dSLR forum. Just a thought.

This is somewhat reminiscent of my experience with one of the Sony cameras when the sensor went bad. (Sony has a recall on a whole bunch of their cameras because plastic was used to encapsulate the CCD's instead of ceramic so eventually they leaked & needed to be replaced.)

I would download the dead/hot pixel test from Starzen & test the camera. If the CCD is bad then hopefully the camera is still under warranty.
